It’s Thanksgiving season! Yes, Thanksgiving season, which starts Nov. 1 and lasts through Thanksgiving. None of this Christmas creeping in after (or before!) Halloween.
I didn’t always adore Thanksgiving as I do now. As a kid, I didn’t mind starting the Christmas season as early as possible. Thanksgiving was just a big family dinner in preparation for Christmas.
(I’d like to note, I’m a huge Christmas fan, so don’t think I’m a Scrooge.)
The farther I’ve come in life, the more I’ve come to appreciate a time to get together with loved ones to remember all of our many blessings. I love feasting, especially with the purpose to give gratitude and show love to those around us.
This month I invite all my writer friends to join with me on social media to express the things we are grateful for. In this age, I feel complaining and blaming can overtake the public conversation. In the spirit of this season, I invite us all to find the things that make life wonderful. Post one thing you’re grateful for each day, and use the hashtag #gratefulwriters.
To everyone joining in NaNoWriMo, good luck! November is my month to make gifts for friends and family, so I won’t be participating. I can’t wait to hear about everyone’s progress.
Happy Thanksgiving!
